Nearly New Golf Clubs is a UK-based pre-owned golf equipment business founded by Harry Heptonstall. Harry had already proven the business model on eBay and was ready to build a standalone ecommerce operation to own customer data, reduce marketplace fees and scale the brand independently.
Harry had the store built on WordPress with WooCommerce to integrate with his existing eBay inventory system. He approached Sabre in January 2023 to manage Google Ads as the primary acquisition channel.
Since then, Sabre has managed Google Ads continuously, delivering £458k in revenue from £58.1k in ad spend at a lifetime 7.89x ROAS with an average CPA of £22.15. Sabre also set up and manages Klaviyo email flows and monthly campaigns, which have generated over £180k in attributed revenue through optimised automations designed to increase customer lifetime value.
Over three years, Sabre has been part of the growth from a small unit to a full warehouse operation with several employees and a loyal customer base. The partnership continues into 2026 with plans to double down on Google Ads, test Meta and TikTok as new acquisition channels, and capitalise on a website speed optimisation being delivered by a new web team in Q2.
From eBay to £458k in Google Revenue.
Harry had proven the business model on eBay. Sabre's job was to make Google Ads the engine that scaled the standalone store into a proper ecommerce operation.
The pre-owned golf equipment market is highly searchable. Customers actively look for specific clubs, brands and models. This makes Google Ads an ideal acquisition channel, particularly Search and Shopping campaigns that capture high-intent buyers at the moment they are ready to purchase.
Sabre has managed the Google Ads account continuously since January 2023, scaling spend gradually in line with Harry's inventory levels and available capital. In the early years, stock availability and logistics meant the business could not absorb rapid scaling. The growth has been deliberate and disciplined, increasing budget only when the business was ready to fulfil the demand.
Performance has improved year on year as the account has matured. In 2025 alone, Sabre delivered £206k in revenue from £25k in ad spend at an 8.23x ROAS with a £22.43 CPA. The lifetime numbers now stand at £458k in revenue from £58.1k in ad spend at a 7.89x ROAS with an average CPA of £22.15. The gradual scale approach has meant every increase in budget has been backed by data, and the returns have grown stronger over time rather than diminishing.
Harry is now at the point where the business can scale properly. He has brought in a specialist WordPress agency to optimise the existing site for speed and conversion rate, which Sabre has flagged as a bottleneck throughout the partnership. Sabre would love to bring the store over to Shopify, but the honest recommendation was to fix the existing WordPress site first and see if that resolves the speed and CVR issues before committing to a full platform migration. Selling Harry a large rebuild that may not be as efficient for the business is not how Sabre operates.

With a website speed optimisation landing in Q2 and new acquisition channels on the roadmap, 2026 is set to be the biggest year yet for Nearly New Golf Clubs.
Website load speed has been the single biggest constraint on conversion performance throughout the partnership. The WordPress and WooCommerce setup with a large plugin stack has consistently slowed page load times, and Sabre has flagged this as a priority multiple times. Harry has now brought in a dedicated web team to optimise the site for Q2 2026, and the performance gains are expected to unlock significant additional revenue from existing ad spend.
On the acquisition side, Sabre plans to double down on Google Ads with increased budget and expanded campaign structures. Meta Ads and TikTok Ads are on the roadmap as new channels to test, bringing the brand in front of golf audiences who are not actively searching but are open to discovering pre-owned equipment at better prices.
